On October 14, 2021 at 7:51 a.m., the Cambria Fire Department responded to a commercial vehicle that had backed into a gas meter which caused a gas leak at the Cambria Post Office. Firefighters evacuated residents and businesses within a 2 block radius. The gas company secured the gas leak, fire personnel extricated the commercial truck and assisted Cambria postal workers. CAL FIRE, California Highway Patrol (CHP), SoCalGas Company and the SLO Sheriff were also at scene.
