Emily Torlano
Captain Emily Torlano began her fire service career with the United States Forest Service in 1996. She was hired at Cambria Fire Department immediately after graduating from the Allan Hancock College Fire Academy in 2000. She obtained her paramedic license in 2004, and continued to work her way up the ranks of Firefighter, Engineer, and was promoted to Captain in 2015. During her career, she has developed a passion for teaching, training, and writing. She has been proactive in making training a high priority and spends countless hours researching and writing grants for the department. She has an Associate Degree in Fire Science, a Bachelor Degree in Fire Science Administration, and is currently working on her Master’s in Organizational Leadership/Teacher Leader. She also holds numerous fire service certifications. Captain Torlano prefers to spend her days off finding adventures with her two sons. She also enjoys mountain climbing, trail running, and anything outdoors.
